See below for upcoming classes, trainings, and workshops available from the Children’s Advocacy Center. Classes and materials are free. Foster parents may earn education hours. Providers are always welcome to attend. 

Parent Cafes

The Be Strong Parent Cafes are safe spaces where people can talk and listen to each other about the challenges and joys of raising a family. Join for good food and conversation. Plus, receive a Starbucks Gift Card for attending.

STEP: Active parenting of Teens: Families in Action

Next 6-week series begins March 3.  Tuesdays from 5:30pm-8:00pm. 
March 3rd,  March 10th, March 17th, March 24th, March 31st, and April 7th.
Dinner & Child Care Offered!

STEP (Support, Tools, and Education for Parents) is a program designed to support caregivers. Active parenting of Teens: Families in Action is a program that gives families critical tools for the challenging teen years. There are future sessions  available on Wednesdays or Thursdays. Dinner and childcare are offered.

The Hard-earned Gifts of Caring for Other People’s Children

Thursday, March 5, 9:30am-11:30am  OR  Saturday, March 7, 10am-12pm

Give yourself time to reflect on your role as a parent of children born to others. What are the crucible moments – the tests and challenges – that have the power to draw out the gold in our character? What do the fires we walk through  teach us? If we can hold onto hope, we become stronger, more resilient people. In doing so, we model these gifts of gold to our children.

Supporting Kids with Problem Sexual Behaviors

Thursday, April 2nd from 11:00am-1:00pm. Via Zoom.

Attend this virtual training with Dr. Daniel Sanderson, PhD, CSAT. Grounded in neuroscience, learn clear language for confusing behaviors and practical tools that work in real homes.

STEP: Strengthening Families Program
Adapted for Parents & Caregivers Raising children with Trauma

The next series begins April 14th. Tuesdays from 9:30-11:00am or 5:30-7:30pm.

This program is designed to support parents, improve family relationships, and reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse. There are MULTIPLE dates available and classes are offered both in-person and online.

STEP: Book Club. What Happened to You?
Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing 

The next series begins April 16th. Thursdays from 9:30am-11:30am.

Each session includes icebreakers, chapter reflections, trauma-informed parenting approaches, and how the five Protective Factors strengthen families. Video clips and small-group activities enhance main ideas from each chapter.
